OK, I'm going to have to go to the other side on this one (and please don't hate me). It takes two people to make or break a relationship.

You basically only mentioned Ben Afleck once in the essay and that was just to say bad man, he's been bad before. And that wasn't fair or accurate. Yes Afleck has an alcoholism problem that has required stints in rehab facilities. No one is arguing that (by the way, there were no reports of any sort of relapse during Bennifer II). He's also an accomplished actor, Screenwriter and director with two Academy Awards. He's just as accomplished as Ms Lopez. Maybe even more so since he now is also co-owner of possibly the most innovative film studio in the industry, revolutionizing pay structure from technical line workers up to above the line talent — and they're putting out great films.

His relationship with his first ex-wife is excellent and, since he cast and directed JLo after their split, they seem to be pretty good, too.

But the real point here goes directly to the thesis of your piece and that's the damage that living in public on social media can do to a relationship. It was impossible to avoid, even for someone like me who avoids the bigger social media channel's as much as possible. One thing I did notice though is that in every clip, every photo op I saw of them, she looked radient — and he looked miserable.

She lives on social media and he, most definitely, doesn't. I don't have any idea of the inner workings of their relationship or its fracture but I'm willing to bet that his discomfort with the way she courts followers on the socials had to be a source of tension.

While she was “living her best life” with celebrity birthday parties and all, he was avoiding the press and working on planning projects at his film studio. One of them being the film he cast J Lo in.

What I'm trying to say here is that they're both pretty good people as far as we can know who happened to be tragically a bad fit for each other. Neither of them was at fault or the bad guy.
